There is the hand held crimping tool sold on the cheap. The manufacturer of the pex tubing recommends a type or brand of crimping tool we purchased that tool and did not have any issues. Others did not purchase the more expensive recommended tool and had some leaking issues. On my heating hot water heating system in one of my rentals the contractor used another brands brass bushings inside the fittings because it was all he had in the truck. Needless to say the fittings leaked and with the correct bushing for the fittings no leaks. He has replaced all bushings at no charge to me. But, not after some strong words.

    Bought muh crimper yesterday.

We're going to do some remodelling requiring moving hot water baseboard heaters....One thing led to another so I decided to re-pipe everything with PEX for that too.

I am no expert BUT we use pex all over on farms across the state with very good results. I am going this route because I have a lot given to me but I would have done pex either way. I am impressed with it.
