40 years! Loved every minute of it. I am now 65, and broke my back 2 1/2 years ago, diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis 8 months ago, and it is a lot harder now than it used to be. But I have a son who heats with wood like his Dad and he has vowed that as long as I can drag one split at a time in and put it in the stove, he will not let me be without wood! Love that boy! So far, I can still help with getting wood, but I am a lot slower than I was 3 years ago. The day I can't heat with wood will be a sad day for me. The joy I get from heating with wood is just not something I can effectively put into words
This is what I would love to be able to say after another 34 yrs. My son ALWAYS helps me carry wood inside, helps me split and stack it and also has a bag of pellets upstairs by the stove whenever the hopper is near empty. Saves me a trip up the stairs everyday. I can only pray my son does for me what yours is doing for you.
He will DD, It is obvious you and your son have bonded already.......and that never goes away! What a blessing!
