40 years! Loved every minute of it. I am now 65, and broke my back 2 1/2 years ago, diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis 8 months ago, and it is a lot harder now than it used to be. But I have a son who heats with wood like his Dad and he has vowed that as long as I can drag one split at a time in and put it in the stove, he will not let me be without wood! Love that boy! So far, I can still help with getting wood, but I am a lot slower than I was 3 years ago. The day I can't heat with wood will be a sad day for me. The joy I get from heating with wood is just not something I can effectively put into words :)

This is what I would love to be able to say after another 34 yrs. My son ALWAYS helps me carry wood inside, helps me split and stack it and also has a bag of pellets upstairs by the stove whenever the hopper is near empty. Saves me a trip up the stairs everyday.

I can only pray my son does for me what yours is doing for you.
