A tree service took out a Red Maple and some type of flowering crab apple outside my office window yesterday. Two guys (yellow hat, orange hat) in two different trees... Then they chipped everything...
You should get some of the Applewood, that would be mighty tasty to be cooking some chicken and burgers over it in the summer time!
Not gonna like that one bit. Need good timing to rescue wood from the chipper. At least up where you are, it probably went to be burned for heat/energy instead of just being sent to the landfill.
They do that crap around here too. With all the power line upgrades they are doing, there's going to be a ton of wasted BTUs. The town here at least sells the chips for a low cost. We bought a dumptruck load of chips for mulch last year. It'd still be better off as btu's.
I just shake my head and sigh. These will probably end up as mulch or compost. The places that burn chips are pretty fussy regarding cleanliness and uniformity.
