How do I adjust the unloading valve on my 13 gpm log splitter? Until I get a bigger pump I
would like to adjust my pump to stay in the high flow stage before it unloads to the low flow high pressure side of the pump as I put a 9hp Honda engine on my splitter and have more than enough power for pump size. Just trying to get a little more speed without buying new pump at this time.

Will need pump info to know if it's even possible. Make, model, serial, and any other info please.

I'm pretty sure it's a barnes pump. Purchased pump from northern tool about 10 yrs ago. Don't have any literature on pump. I do remember it being advertised as a 13.6 gpm pump. There is a slotted screw on side of pump under a cap and I turned it in a total of 2 turns but did not notice a difference. May not be adjustable as you said.

That's likely just the relief valve controlling total system pressure. May not effect the adjustment of first or second stage of pump. There should be a plate on the pump with the info. With that we can look it up and figure out if it can be tweaked or tuned.

Your on the right track, just keep turning it in until you get it where you want it. Once you get that adjusted you could turn up the pressure relief on the valve also.

The pump is a concentric model 1053. I'm in Defiance Mo. That's in St. Charles county just about 50 miles west of St. Louis. I adjust system pressure on mine at the control valve and have it set at 2500 psi. I will try some more turns on screw in the pump sunday as I'm visiting family tomorrow by Lake of the Ozarks. Where do you hail from Pappy? Also thanks for the help guys!!!

Make sure your pressure doesn't exceed what the lines can handle once you make more adjustments. High pressure injection injuries are serous business and not to be taken lightly.
