The manual states that the minimal chimney height from floor to cap is 15 feet.

From the floor of the house, I pulled the manual up from the manufacturer's site to check.

So does what you have in place qualify, regardless of your 2 double 90's?

Well, this was not about my set up; I forgot what ESW told me for my stove; I have it in an email because my manual does not specify.

    That's odd Greg.
I've been having fairly regular fires, and don't have that issue.
It was around 60 OAT earlier this evening, and the wife said it felt cool in here, so I put a few small splits of Pine, and 2 small Ash in the stove.
I had a nice fire going in under a minute, and the STT was 300 or so within about 5 minutes.
My flue system is about 18 ft from the floor the stove sits on, to the cap.

    Yep, 6".

We have been below 32 a few times, and down to 28 twice so far. Nights are regularly in the mid-low 40s, or into the 30s. I believe we are going to get a real winter this year. So, yeah, we are burning a little daily now.

How's the wind over there? Not bad here, but an unusual amount of rain the last couple of days.

Yep, I am pretty close to that, probably just a few inches short.

That is what I am hoping for. I will add another 3 feet, that will be about the same as yours, maybe I will get the same result. Do you have an OAK? None here, but no shortage of air supply through this house.

wind was not as bad as the media was telling us it would be in my areas anyway, although northern Oregon coast got a EF2 tornado.

I seen it was raining pretty good in Pullman last night when i was watching the wazzu game

I installed an OAK, but it's not hooked up right now. I did have a little bit of smoke spillage before adding the extra pipe, but never a problem getting a fire going in the 30.

Now that you mention it, it is worse than before, so you may have a point. But I believe a little more draft will still help. I am quite a noob with this stove.

At the cottage, my stacks are outside. Under cover mind you, but also outside. BIG difference on wet days vs. dry days for me. Tthe wood is now four years old.....

Oh, my wood is in a wood shed. It is dry, no doubt, and verified with the MM.

I usually have a few pieces laying around in the back porch also.
but I still notice a difference in the initial startup on those damp (wet) days.

The cottage remains unheated while no one is there also.

I added 3 feet more to the chimney today, we'll see what difference it will make over time. I'll probably light a fire tonight, it is just not quite cold enough yet. I also got the snow divider installed, which I really have been wanting to do before it snows.

When I pulled the cap off, I peered down into the chimney to see if I should clean it. There was nothing but a little ash, not worth bothering with. I have only put about 1/8 or a cord through it so far, so I wouldn't expect much, but it was good to see all the same.

    Obligatory photo:

OK, just lit a small fire, just 14" splits. It is 47 degrees outside, so not real cold, but the stove is drafting pretty well, and no spillage when I open the door.

Photo below, not even quite 200 STT yet, but burning real good. (Sorry for the dirty glass.) Good blowtorch effect in front of the doghouse, despite that the fire is sitting back a way from it.

    IMG_20161023_185653_hdr.jpg

I think it made it quite gooder, time will tell.

    And gooder is better.
I did the same thing at the workshop...added another 3' section.
And, i also am getting the dirty glass form use over the weekend. I attribute that to keeping the wood outside whee it is damp/wet even though it is top covered.
I moved a few arm loads inside this before I left today.

Gotta keep room in the garage for a planned mustang convertible as soon as we find it.

And more gooder is more better.

Sounds like your priorities are messed up ... mine would be too given that same scenario.

I think keep doing what your doing. Could you switch from a 90 to 2 - 45s if there is still an issue? Roof pic looks great btw!
