Score.............that is!!:stacke: A fellow I know runs a yard maintenance/landscaping outfit. He said I could take all the wood that I wanted from the piles at his place. I've been grabbing all EAB ash that they've cut down. I've made 3 trips so far; this one being the latest, and I've probably pulled at least 2 cords of Ash from there. He's let me borrow his big, dual axle dump trailer also to haul it over with also. I don't have a lot of room in the front of the house to store it all, so I've brought it over in smaller loads....................and try to process it before getting another load. The picture of this stack.............2/3rds of it I brought over this morning. Almost 20ft. long and about 5ft. high, just one row deep. A lot of "odd" lengths, so I need to cut many to length before splitting. Lotsa of cookies and chunks from these scores also.
I asked my wife if these chaps made my ash look big: Should have taken a picture when we were working the base of the tree. Where I'm sitting was 40-45' up.
It's been a VERY dry year for us as well. We're probably around 10-14" short of rain this year. We had to water the young trees and bamboo twice a day for a large part of the summer. That creek has two very large holding ponds a couple of miles upstream of us so it always has at least a little water in it. Even when we went 6 weeks without a drop of rain this summer, it didn't go completely dry. That picture was also taken in mid-spring so it hasn't been that wet recently. The water in the creek is mostly ankle-deep right now with a few places up to mid-calf.
