    Here it is ready for inspection Monday morning:

    The roof part of the chase got built a little taller than I wanted though. Is 7" to the top of the pipe and 11" to the top of the cap going to be ok?

    Looks like it will be easy to clean. You might need a ladder for top down cleaning but it should get plenty of draft.

    I'm unsure about the clearance. It sure sounds too tight. Hope someone else can chime in for ya.

    here it would be yes, my insurance wanted a chase because of winds and my proximity to the lake... your inspector will let you know your codes..

    No certain distance above chase top required according to the inspector that looked at it. I'm 3 inches on all sides in the chase itself. She said I only need 1"? Pipe tag says 2". Chimney guy says a 12" extension can be added. His only worry about the shorter distance was some discoloration on the chase do to the close distance to the cap. Guess I'll run and add to it of need be!!
