The fact that the kids can't count change or even sign their name in cursive isn't their fault. They were not taught to by their teachers at school or at home. So now they become a burden to society. I sometimes feels that is no accident. :zip:

I think you are on to something. I have Special Ed kids in school that struggle with the basics, but the state requires that they learn the same Common Core standards that are designed for college prep kids. I breaks my heart to see them struggle with advanced composition concepts and Algebra, when I have gifted teachers that could teach them handwriting, making change, and interpersonal skills they could use to find gainful employment someday.

And I get out of my truck and walk in to get my Egg McMuffin every Saturday morning, and pay with cash. I stifle my annoyance when the person in front of me swipes their card to pay $4.23 for their coffee and hash browns!

You gotta swipe the card to earn miles or points.
If you're not earning miles or points you're throwing them away (and guess who gets 'em )

I like books. You remember those bound things that held a series of papers together?

I have my days and my moments, sometimes I say it is what it is, sometimes I say oh well that's not too bad, and the other times I just get pizzed right off.
I think maybe older people like me are a little crotchety because very seldom do we have pain free days, you know you are walking around and body parts hurt, that affects your mood, some days your body hurts more so you're more crotchety.
Some the way things are today I just don't like

We have a new pizza place that won't take cash. They said it prevents them from getting robbed. So it is plastic or pay with your phone. Now here is the kicker, they make sepecialize pizza that you order like you would a sub at Subway. The will throw on extra stuff (that isn't meat) and not charge you extra. So this place gives a lot of personal attention, but the cash thing is all digital.

I used to work with a guy the we called OF...or sometimes "THE OF"
I'm not one to collect change, I use it. Sometimes I will figure out how to get rid of the most coins in my pocket. Say the bill is $4.23, I'll give 'em (4) $1 bills, a quarter, and 3 pennies. That gets rid of (3) extra pennies, and gives me back (1) nickel instead of (2) pennies...and boy oh boy does that one throw 'em off!

Our country has eliminated the penny. All cash payments are rounded out to eliminate pennies for change. It cost too much to produce pennies which were 94% steel, 1.5% nickel and 4.5% copper plating. Part of the problem also were people throwing pennies in jars and not spending them.

That makes too much cents for this country!
