I would say better as the wood keeps you warm and one knows for sure the wood is actually there! (Not that I believe all the conspiracy theories ... )
Good for you Highbeam. No, it's not my wood. The Indians ran out of room for stacking and asked if they could stack it here...
It's stacked a bit tight on the left side but is aging nicely and after so many years it will burn well. The middle four rows are this year's work and were almost all douglas fir so look golden, the far couple of rows were put there last summer and started out golden but are now grey/brown like the rest. The foam pallets are sure nice. No rot! But my source dried up and I'll need to use wood to replace them if I ever do. Glad you all like the photo.
Holy catfish Highbeam! Some mighty fine lookin' stacks you got there. Most buildings aren't as straight and square as those stacks. Nicely done.
Hey Highbeam thought I would add my own comment on how nice your stacks look! You say the center ones are doug fir? Is that what most of it is? What else do you have in there? I really enjoy burning doug fir and would have to say its my second favorite wood next to larch.
Most is Doug fir but some is maple which I really like and about a cord is cherry which I've never burned. We don't see larch on the coastal side of the cascade range so I've never burned it either.
