That's a great idea... Lumber is costly nowadays!

I would have thought Ohio was loose with that kind of stuff....?

Not in Kettering. Depends on where you are. The suburbs around us are fairly conservative but you can drive a few minutes and just about anything goes. All depends on who's running the show and tax dollars I guess.

Got the roof on. Still plenty to do. Didn't really get any overhang but I'm not worried about it. It's better than a tarp and can always be changed. I have $150 in the roof and screws.

Oh My. At least I tried.
The problem with having no drip overhang of the roofing like that is all the rain water that lands on the roof will now be concentrated at the bottom edge and flow over and saturate the wood support framing. This will accelerate the rotting of that wood framing. It could have been avoided so easily.

It's all treated lumber. I build fences with the same wood and don't put roofs over it. It will all be painted with fence coat black, asphalt based paint. I'm not worried about it rotting for years.

You can always put up some siding down low to keep the splatter off the wood. Perhaps not the best but it will work if done right.

The 3 sides get boards and will look just like the fence does behind it, except higher. The rain that can get through isn't a worry to me. We never even top covered our stacks for years. Snow doesn't last months here.

Drip edge or no drip edge, it's better than a tarp for sure! I think ya done gooder! I'm in need of building something similar myself. But...it'll be put off another year as most things are it seems..
