My Dad had a huge red maple taken down last fall. He's been dropping hints that he needed my help with it, so I decided to surprise him for Fathers Day and headed over there this morning with couple chainsaws.

Ran 3 tanks through the 261 and 1 through the 661 before calling it a day. Didn't quite get everything cut up but I put a serious dent in it.

Can that solar panel(?) pull double duty as a wood shed?

I would love to invest in a solar panel, but it's a lot bigger of an investment then burning wood if I had to guess. Couldn't imagine what something like that costs.

I don't remember how much it was, but it's definitely more than I have in my firewood equipment. But if I had a new tractor instead of my old JD 318, it might be closer. I think he got some kind of tax break the year he had it installed.

My Dad is a retired electrician, and one of his hobbies for years has been reducing his electric bill. His electric bill this month was $0, and they actually had to give him credits because he produced more than he used.

Nice work today Shawn Curry! That was a nice fathers day surprise. It has been far to hot here to even think about getting into the wood pile. I took my dad fishing this morning for an hour and a half before he told me he was too hot and was ready to go when I was ready. Burgers on the grill instead of frying fish was still nice!

That is a good thing you did for your father Shawn. I can understand why he did the solar, being an retired electrician. Once they start, they can't stop.

The difference in the saws and the difference in the tractors you mention are close. Shoot, I've been wanting a new tractor too but waiting for some more dollars to roll in first. Wait, wait, wait...

Yup - it hit 93 today, but it was probably a little hotter out in the sun on that concrete pad. That's where the Labor of Love part comes in... ;)

But it was only about 35% RH, and there was a little breeze. Plus I love making firewood. So it wasnt so bad. :)

It's a 'loaner' actually... From my girlfriend's son, who's currently on leave from the Navy.

But I did get a new table! This was one of the first pieces of furniture that my parents bought after they got married. I guess the story goes, my grandfather wanted it so badly, that they finally ended up trading it to him for something else that they needed but he didn't really want to part with. It's been in storage in my parent's barn for a couple years now since my grandparents passed.

Solid cherry drop leaf dining table - shaker style with gate legs.

A beaut for sure Shawn! Someday down the road maybe an English walnut table will be being passed through the generations? Who knows, whoever made that table may have been a firewood hoarder himself!

My oldest son called me at 5:38 AM to wish me a Happy Father's Day as he was going fishing and wanted to make sure he called. I really wouldn't have minded a late afternoon call, so much for sleeping in. :rofl:
