Summer hit big time today. 86 degrees now. Such a big change when we were getting such cool temperatures just a week ago. Even a frost a couple days ago. So, did not do any cutting today; maybe tomorrow. Although I did hoe corn today. Danged hot job too. But, it has been said, pray for a good harvest. Now grab hold of the hoe.
Your right it's here . Doing a couple mics. Projects in the garage today after going in the house for my third beer I looked at temp. And said I'm done . Working that is not drinking (LOL)
That's weird Dennis, as we got that temp yesterday. Made a run to Alpena, and the temp dropped to 73 when I got there, but 87 again by the time I got back home. About 10 deg. cooler today.
We were in the mid 80s here but low humidity - it felt warm but really good after nearly a month of rain! This weekend will be a lot of work in the garden but I still have some wood to split and stack. Hoping to do it before it gets in the 90s.
Yep, looks like its here too! Perfect timing for me - my lilacs in the front yard just opened, and with these mild overnight temps I can leave the windows open to enjoy the smell. Not sure what happened to spring - we had some mixed precip just what, 2 weeks ago?
Yup, summer's here. I know this because the weather forecasters said I'm to receive the gift of snow tomorrow afternoon. Snow.
Warmed up here also. Finally and the the wind has let up. The black flies and mosquitos were about to carry me off. I ordered a bunch of supplies which came. I was outside most all day. But no bugs so I didn't get to use my new bug war supplies. We planted all but the squash in the garden. I'll get to that before the week is over. Small garden for me but much better than nothing. Hope to get the garlic mixed in tomorrow. I bought a huge amount of it to plant among my gardens. Hope it helps keep out bugs and small critters.
Must have been an east wind Dave. That's why I used to love working next to the big lakes in summertime.
Hotter than dannit here too-neighbors farm just made first cut of hay-with all the rain it's prob gonna be a 4 cut year-smells like sweet jasmine in the air. With the windows down, you can smell it a half mile away from both directions...time to consider life's simple pleasures and gifts...
The glass factory was nice Wednesday Cozy. Little cooler Thursday. Nowhere close to warm yet. Of course, the apprentices think they're going to die....
We were just talking about haying time yesterday. Even as a young lad I always looked forward to it and love the smell. Although I'm not so sure I miss those really hot muggy summer days when the hay mow is almost full and you are stacking the very top! Not much air up there and very hot. Get a load done then turn on the hose with cold water! Drink lots too.
