Yes they were! The 95s and up were much, much better. Even though I hated CPI with a passion.

Opening my old thread since I finally pulled the trigger on a new (used) truck. If you don't remember the backstory, my truck left me stranded at work for a hour or so and my wife told me that night to go out and buy a brand new truck. I actually argued with her because I've always bought trucks that were 1-2 years old, but she insisted that new was the only option. She eventually back-pedaled and decided she wanted me to get a large SUV in case we have a 3rd kid in the next year or so. Later in the summer she decided that SHE deserves a new minivan to replace her 2010 CRV and that my 2005 Frontier was fine lol. So it's been a journey.

Fast forward to now, I kept track of the maintenance I spent on the truck this year, $200 in parts plus a couple hours of my time every single month, and $1800 paying for a shop to rebuild the transmission. The rebuilt transmission is already slipping 2 months later so I've got to put it back in the shop, luckily they gave me a 3 year warranty on the work. But we decided it was time to get rid of it and get something more reliable so as soon as I get it back it's for sale.

Anticipating this happening, I've been spending most of my lunch hours since then researching trucks and prices and watching for F150 and Sierra forums for common problems. I initially wanted a 2016+ Sierra or F150, but my requirement that it have dual zone climate control (first world problems) put me in $40k+ territory, even used. So I decided to look at the previous generation F150. I was willing to drive 5 hours, but I found this gem 30 minutes from my house.

It was a leased truck that's immaculate inside and out, a 2014 F150 FX4 with 31k miles on it and every option available in that trim level except max tow. I might remove the stripe and may try to trade those 20" wheels for 18's as well sometime in the future, I don't know. But first I just need to get that first dent or scratch on it, the bed doesn't even look like it's ever had anything in it!
