3 years and one of my 18v Li-Ion batteries is done.

Reading online, when messing with Li-Ion it is not a simple de-solder, replace and solder job.

Are there generic options? I think I paid about $200 for impact, drill, 2 batteries and the charger.

Seems like a package deal is better than the $100 battery.

Anyone ever rebuild or have one rebuilt? I hate throwing away good stuff.

Are these 18V or the newer 20V Max packs?

I found generics for my Dewalt and Ryobi on Amazon. You first have to figure out what # will fit your tools (and compatibles - your instructions should have them in the back ), then Google "generic replacement battery ####".

Dewalt is now making 20 volt to 18 volt conversion kits so you can put the new batteries in the old tools.

When my 12v DeWalt batteries went, I could have bought 2 new batteries for $100. I bought a 18v kit with 3 tools for $225. Seemed wasteful, but I felt I was getting much more for the dollar.
