Hey guys just thought I would share this with you. I took a peek at into the 6100 which has been running the Dolmar synthetic oil since day one. I started at 50:1 and now run 43:1 (3oz per gal) I was surprised at how little carbon is on top of the piston. I am not sure how many tanks I have ran through this in the past six months but I would say close to 10 gallons. Let me know what you think.
Yes I had to lean the high side a bit and play with the idle a couple times also had to adjust the low a bit. When switching from 50:1 to 42:1 I had to lean both high and low a bit. Nothing to drastic
The plug color looks good and the carbon build up is minimal but maybe I am missing something. You say you have put about 10 gallons through that saw so in my mind it is almost brand new. I used to ride small 2 stroke motorcycles and would burn up that much fuel in a couple of days. In my mind it had better look like brand new throughout the engine. I am no lightweight but I was running a small 2 stroke engine with a 32:1 mix in the days when oil was barely better than 4 stroke oil and even then I had no issues anywhere near that fast. After the first 2 days of break in the engine was basically still brand new.
Ya the saw is only 6 months old, and I am just a firewood hack though I do burn wood year around with my coffee roasting business. I have ran oils that are no where near as clean burning.
