Snowed last night but here are some pics of wood I got in recently , I got a load yesterday to add to the stack of unsplit wood.
Awesome, I wanted to get out and cut yesterday but alas kids basketball games and kids bday parties kept me from firing up the saws.
Nice pic's looks like a beautiful piece of land you got there I'm getting wood in too ,into the house temps supposed to take a dive Monday night it's nice today so taking advantage of that. Don't want to be opening and closing the door in single digits.
I only have 4 acres so I cut on my brother-in-laws 150 acres, his land was logged just before he bought it. He said over 2000 logs were taken out of there. So you know what that means over 2000 tree tops but its going on 2 years now and I dont know how many years it will stay good to get decent wood off it.
Agree with the temp drop Monday night. Filled up my ring today, back to big time burns again. The Indian summer saved a bunch while it lasted!
The tops should last a long, long time except for that part which touches ground. We saw a fellow cutting tops near us and those were logged about 15 years ago. Mostly oak, white and red, and it is great stuff.
I can tell you from first hand experience that oak tops will last at least 10 years if not laying directly on the ground.
When I get time, but my first priority is to get it out of the woods. i have a Huskee 22 ton splitter. I usually split small batches at a time like 1/2 rick, I dont try and do too much at anyone time that way by body likes me.
