Well, we just got a little over a half inch of rain so no cutting today, I noticed the grass is greening up pretty good and decided to service everything and get it ready for the dreaded grass mowing. Tractor greased oil changed and took the FEL off as I have to do some repair work to the front radiator screen that I ran a stick through. John Deere zero turn got power washed blades sharpened new fuel and oil filter along with oil changed, and grease. Ferris zero turn got the same attention as the John Deere. Normal wash and oil fuel filter changes blades sharpened. The Polaris got a new battery power washed, and some carb work. What kind of maintenance does everyone do when it's too wet to cut firewood? U can see in the pic of how wet it is here. The garden is under water right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You forgot the slinky! Grass started to grow here in new haven county, ct. Another week and a half, should know if i can get back to work, and possibly do some yard stuff.
I was able to do all that kind of stuff 3 weeks ago during some time off during our Easter break. Could not get the washing done because I didn't want to turn the water on in the garage-knew we were still going to have some freezing temperature.
Good for you Wise8706 I did finally hook up the outside water line today. Will turn it on in the morning as after tonight we are supposed to be above freezing for several days. Hopefully it won't freeze many more times this spring. I think we've had enough cold weather for this spring. Time for some above normal temps. However, we are into that time of year when above normal many times brings some severe weather too and that is not good.
I did all of my maintenance on my mowing equipment last fall, with the exception of sharpening the blades. I have a lot of sticks from dead ash trees in my yard so I want to get past a few mowing cycles before touching them up. I've raked half the yard picking up what I could, but I know I've missed some.
I change oil, sharpen, etc, everything in Feb so its ready to go. I don't want to waste a warm spring day indoors if I can avoid it.
The saws never really got a rest over this "winter", so all of those are ready to go. Except for a couple spots, the lawn can probably wait another week or 2; I do still have some equipment maintenance to do there. I did some spring cleaning in the garage over the weekend. I restacked and moved a couple around trying to get my lumber into the smallest space I could, as I expect it will be taking over another bay by the end of this year.
I always mow a few times before I sharpen blades. Never get all the limbs and twigs picked up, not when I am mowing 8acres or so total.
