Lately we've had a few posts about accidents so why not another post, only this time just on a medical condition?!

As most on this forum know, I've battled with a terrible back most of my life and especially since 1984 when I injured it badly. Then in 2013 I was on a trailer doing some work and lost my balance and fell.....backwards right off the side and landing squarely on my back. It was probably a blessing but I do not remember hitting the ground. I only remember that suddenly my wife was trying to get my feet down off the side of the trailer. This was very close to the house but it was a long, long walk to get there.

Almost exactly a year later, I fell into our well pit. Yes, I landed on my back, right on top of the water pump. No, that was not fun and it took some time to get out of that well pit.

Then a bit over a year ago I was notified that a hip joint that had been replaced in 2011 had to be taken out and a new one put in because the metal was breaking down and yes, my blood proved that metal was getting into my body and that was not good. So last June, I had the hip revision and I'm here to tell you that having a revision is nothing like having a simple hip replacement. I've had both hips done and both healed rather quickly; like a couple months. Not so with the revision. It was much more painful and crutches and cane were needed for over 7 months. I'm still not 100% healed from this but it's coming along nicely finally.

As you no doubt can guess, the last few years have been a bit rough. However, sometimes things come with a silver lining!

I am very happy to report that in the last week I've had a couple treatments on my back that has worked wonders! I won't say I am 100% pain free but it isn't too far from there right now! I've taken exactly one pain pill in the last week! In addition, when I stand and when I walk, I'm accustomed to having some really bad pain in the low back. That is almost gone! It almost feels weird standing up and not hurting like crazy but it is wonderful!!!!!!

In addition, I saw the surgeon who did the hip revision today and he is happy with the way the x-ray looked today. Unfortunately I did not see it today but he said it was almost healed. He was also happy because this is the firs time he's seen me walk without crutches since last June.

Now we'll be going into a mode of trying to strengthen the back and continuing to strengthen the hip and leg. It will no doubt take some time but I think it is going to be a happy time. Thanks to everyone who has given encouragement and help. And here's hoping this will make the get-together in April even better than we'd hoped.

Sorry for such a long post but I am so happy I just had to let others know about this. To me this is one more case of proof that prayers do get answered! Praise God!

She is like  and says Hello back at you Jon. She immediately thought about our meeting last fall and misses the whole gang. Wish you could come to the GTG next month!

I think once you get my age and up there's no such thing as pain free though. :BrianK: :D

Now just don't be taking any high dives off the log pile :D;)

I have never had a bad back so I cannot relate to what it was like for you. But I do know what it is like to not have back issues and sounds like you will too. Congratulations on your recovery.
