Built this for a customer, and thought you all might like to see how I did it. First, I did a mockup/layout in the cabinet. I used the layout as a pattern to cut the pieces, then cut shallow dados where they are joined together... I dry fitted all the pieces to make sure everything fit properly... All the individual pieces were then painted, because it's very hard to paint the inside after its assembled! And here it is with all the pieces assembled on the bench...
I then glued and nailed 1/4" plywood on the front and back of the unit (the front had my layout on it, before I sanded it). I drilled one hole in each opening... Then I used a router with a flush trim bit to cut out the individual openings... After sanding, it got a few coats of paint. I masked each opening before I attached the front... Then I permanently mounted it in the cabinet...
I must have missed the chainsaw in those pics.... Nice work cgraham1 that is a nice looking setup those folks have now.
I was getting worried when I saw all the tear out around those holes but then saw that you painted it Real nice job, looks great
cgraham1, very nice work!! looks great and tied in to everything very well. Now fill the rack up and enjoy a glass.
cgraham1 How does the Alder hold up for the wood top? I know it is a pretty light and soft wood. I would think it would get dented and dinged pretty easy, or is that what the customer was after?
Nice project...and a good looking one at that. I'm impressed. But...the chainsaw is waaaaay too clean....
