Not sure on how far it needs to go? Depends on your specific saw..what you did and the altitude. No one will be able to answer that question I don't think. But I think 3/4 is an extreme adjustment

I am running 32:1 on saws with just a muffler mod. Plenty of folks running 32:1 on ported saws. Like many of them.

I run modern saws too. Husky 372 and stihl ms650 are my main saws.

    (I had to edit.)

FWIW, I'm running 40:1 in my rebuilt saws. Amsoil. It's more expensive. But, I run them daily and I like to take care of them. I love running hard cutting chainsaws. UURR, UURRRR, UUURRRRRR. God Bless men.

At the moment I am running amsoil. I have run bailey's syn oil also and several brands of semisyn.

Next I will run Lucas as I have heard good things although it's only semi. It's easier to get and cheap @$10/qt

If you want to follow what the manual says which they are leaned on pretty heavy by the EPA to meet regulations which effects the ratio they recommend for emissions.

EPA does not care one bit about the oil on your saws internals.

$10/qt is cheaper than buying those tiny xp bottles at Lowe's or the dealer!

Now if your buying bottom of the barrel El cheapo no name oil for $0.99 a gallon 50:1 mix bottle you may be cheaper...then again maybe that's why you had all those deposits in your saw? Mine don't look like that inside! And I think those bottle are still more that the lucus. There is 5 of those tiny bottle in a pint or 10 in a qt which is the same price as the lucus and you get a better oil.

There's your problem your using a water cooled oil in air cooled stuff. It's not designed to operate at the high Temps a saw sees. That's designed for outboards that are water cooled and run way cooler so the oil is formulated differently. Your not getting the lubrication you need out of That and possible why you have some of the deposits you do. It's better than nothing and I would use it in a pinch but that is not recommended for your saw.

And yes the epa controls emissions on saws which basically is smog control.

Use the same carb but just set it richer. Until you go crazy with porting I don't think you need to swap carbs. I'm no expert though. That is good oil...for a boat. I use it in all my outboards. And add to my tractor diesel as well.

You can get the Walmart air cooled two stroke oil. Look in the air cooled section of the oil isle. It's in the bottle with the little squeeze mixer on ThE top to add the right amout. It's not that much more I don't think.

You want to keep a nice arch for the rings.

Anywhere the rings ride you want to keep a round transition.
