    Good day hoarders!

There is a Poulan Wild Thing 18" 2375 at my local auction house. Link at bottom.

I often get bottom dollar prices there on chainsaws so I am remotely interested in this one. Although it is an auction and so of course it may go sky high.

So what I am wondering is, can someone tell me:

1.> What is the approximate age of this thing?

2.> If it does in fact work without much tinkering, what would be a reasonable price? What would be a super deal price?

    Thank you for your input!

They came in a number of iterations, many without antivibe. Personally, it would have to be a $5.00 deal to entice me, otherwise I would pass. I have owned over 600 saws and only 1 Wild Thing and that is because it was part of a package deal for a Poulan 4400.

I think Guido has got it right. I wouldn't bid on a used $99 saw at all, unless I needed an anchor for a canoe in a hurry...

$10 would be tops if your inside if its 100% right. Parts are available and cheap but on a $50 saw running perfect it dont take much in parts to get to the value of the saw even if you paid $25 for it.

I bought one for like $20 I think ran okish. It needed a carb rebuild, the fuel filter reconnected. A new air filter and fuel cap as it was swollen. And the chain sharpened. I think I had like $40 in it when done. I thought it just needed a carb build. I was glad when I sold it for $50. So I did the work for $10.

I now resist the urge to buy them unless there at the price like Guido said. I dont even look anymore.

I am a Poulan guy and I would have to agree with everyone else here.

I picked one up on the side of the road. For the case!! The saw had been stripped down and left in case. Missing parts. So if you buy it and need some parts I may have some for you.

Well that is exactly the input I was looking for!

Only ever had one poulan and gave her away, don't know the last thing about them.

Its already up to 12 bucks so I guess shes a no-go.

Fun fact - this is the same auction house I got my mintyish Stihl 028 WB for 18 bucks. complete with case, accessories and original paperwork. still tickled by that deal. and I got to meet the original owner, had a long and interesting conversation.

    Thank you very much!

I usually give guys $20 trade in on the little poulans that come in not running. Tops IMO for unknown auction stuff.

I look at them as parts are parts if they cant be made into runners.

Hah! I know you're kidding, but... I mentioned earlier I had a long and interesting conversation with the original owner. he was 50 years my senior.

Turns out we had both just lost loved ones to the same affliction. He his wife, me my father. Thats what the auction company was there for, clearing out his wifes old art studio. It was pretty sad but healing for him to move on.

And he got to telling me that he was sentimental about the saw (if there is any place someone might understand that, its here!). He only really let it go because he didn't know he could get an aftermarket ignition for it. He had this thing since 1980. 35 years or so.

So I promised I would get her in tip top shape and give her a good home for the rest of her life. That was the icing on the cake of our conversation. We both walked away extremely happy.

Otherwise I'd give it to ya!

The take away if anything: Never be afraid to say hi to someone, you never know what it could bring.
