Hello Rowerwet. As do I, "several" of them. The top exit stoves were not meant to be fireplace inserts, Sorry to contradict you. Fisher "made" a fire place insert for just that reason. If you ask Coaly, he will explain that to you, Him and I know each other well.
They were considered the Fireplace edition. Even some of the single door stoves had a top flue, I have one. There were many stoves that were Fisher knock offs but were very good stoves. I have a Kodiak also which was from the Alaska stove works, They were nearly identical to the Fishers in every way. Coaly "is" one of the Guru's of the Fisher stove, but there are a many of folks around on the site who either built, worked, or have an extensive amount of knowledge about the Fisher's and other stoves. We all try to help each other , no matter what stove you have. :)

The "Tri-Lakes" stove I have must also be a fisher knock-off. Saving it for a workshop.

No offense meant, at this point nobody is stealing from fisher.
I thought the fireplace had to do with the double door models so you could put the screen over the door and watch the fire. My stove still has the screen, used it once.
If it was up to me the house would have a tempwood instead, but I'm just the caretaker.

None taken! :) This is a "fireplace insert", This happens to be a Kodiak. You can see the difference very clearly, That angle frame around it gets sheet metal screwed to it to enclose the rest of a fire place opening. They also have real short stubby legs, about an inch tall. Bob Fisher had to many "pirated" stove companies to fight, he just couldn't keep up with them. Coaly knows some of the past fabricators of Fishers, I know one… DSCN1846.JPG
