It is how it grows and maybe I select the ones in tight groups. (Wood snob). All dead standing. Pretty sad if I really think of it..if EAB is like pine beetle we all may need to go to a five-ten year plan...
So how'd everyone fare over the weekend? Here was my to-do list: I did end up cleaning out the garage, and at the same time cleaned and mopped the basement and one of the storage closets down there. I didn't get around to mowing any leaves (they were too wet) but I did haul away the pile I had raked back in early Nov to let my daughter jump into from the tree swing. I also brought a little over a face cord of wood into the garage, and carried my .357 with me while I was at my stacks, so I technically hunted. The only deer I saw where the 3 that ran through my yard while I was drinking my coffee Saturday morning though. I also got the Christmas tree up and lights put on. But that's all I finished on my list, we got a call from my step-daughter's biological dad who had her for the weekend. She had a nasty roller skating accident and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, so we spent a chunk of Saturday afternoon/evening at the hospital. Somebody had tripped over her when she was already on the floor of the rink from falling herself, and she smacked her face hard enough that she has a gash the entire length of her eyebrow that was almost 3/8" deep! She also has a pretty bad busted lip and nose, and it knocked both of her front teeth loose. 10 stitches later and she's doing better, just pretty sore!
Wow, you did well. I ended up getting sick late Friday, and got pretty much nothing done. Ran the saw for an hour (previous post), and brought a half cord into the garage for the week. Hoping to tear the world up this coming weekend.
Sorry to hear about your step-daughter, the poor girl. At least her teeth are only loose, and not knocked out.
Yeah, I hope she's doing better bassJAM For me, I got done exactly what I planned this last weekend. I got my insert in the fireplace and fully operational.
Thanks. The hospital actually recommended that she go to the dentist, which they went to yesterday. After X-rays they determined that there was nothing holding her teeth in, so they put some numbing gel on her gums and tried to knock them out with floss (these are her baby teeth still). Well, they didn't come out and my daughter started whimpering, and then dentist freaked out and quickly grabbed pliers and started yanking. I guess my daughter started screaming in pain, my wife started crying, and my daughter ran into a back room at the office and refused to come out (which is out of character for her). That was the "new" dentist at our office who's fresh out of school. The original dentist pulled my wife aside and apologized, and then when my wife went to pay the lady at the front desk even said "I wouldn't blame you if you refused to pay this". The new dentist called the house last night to check how things were and apologize. I'm hoping the whole thing doesn't make my daughter terrified of dentists now! I guess we just have to wait for those teeth to fall out whenever they are ready now.
Thanks everyone!! She's doing pretty well, went back to school this morning. At this point still she's a little sore, but it's mostly cosmetic. I just hope and pray that her eyebrow grows back ok and there isn't major scarring on her face! While a boy might be fine with it, or even think it's cool, it's a lot harder on a girl! She told me she looked like Frankenstein the day after it happened, and it tore my heart hearing her say that!
I decided to extend the weekend hours and hit the weeknights to keep getting the stacks higher! Cheers!
