image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg My Ideal Steel arrived a few weeks ago and has been sitting in the garage waiting for me to have time to bring it in and out it on the hearth I just built.

Hearth is 3/4" plywood with 2 layers of 1/2" Durock Nex Gen, with 1/2" layer of mortar and 1/2" slate flagstone. Then made the oak moulding.

Had the art work custom made for my stove as I didn't see and Elk art on their website.

    Here are some pictures.

Now just waiting for my Class A to be installed next week!!!
Can't wait to fire this beautiful stove up!!

Thank you everyone!! Quick question. The manual says there needs to be 17" from the side walls to the flue collar, so that's why the collar is reversed with the slope in the back.

Do I need to still maintain the 17" with the collar reversed or can it stay at 16" with the collar with the slope facing forward since I'll be using double wall stove pipe...?

    Thanks

Looks really nice. If the mininums are 17", thats what it is. Do you meet your mininums with the back corners? Not following clearances may seem ok, and maybe one would think an inch wouldn't hurt, but if the insurance co found out before\ after a claim due to a fire, ect, it could go void.

Yes all clearances are met and beyond now that the collar has been turned around. 7" on the corners, 17.25" from flue collar and 17.25" to the front of the hearth.

Thanks for all the likes everyone!!!

You can reduce the pipe clearance by using double wall pipe. It's also recommend due to the stove giving off cooler flue gasses. I went with an adjustable piece for ease of installation. I've got a corner install as well and skipped the side art because I can't really see it well.

Congrats on the stove you are going to love the heat it puts out. It's very easy to run as well.

I'm going to use double wall stove pipe too. The manual for the stove calls for 17" from the wall for the clearance, does this still go for double wall pipe or single pipe only?

Thats why I turned the collar around to make the 17" clearance stated in the manual. It's 6" for double wall per the pipe manufacturers instructions.

Which ones do I adher to?

Nice stove! Congrats! I would stick with the clearance of 17". Safety first, always. This equals piece of mind!

My understanding is with double-wall stovepipe, you have the ctc stated by the manufacturer. In your case, it sounds like 6". So your stove has one requirement, and your stove pipe another. Which verifies, as I've seen pics of installations where the double-wall pipe needs to be closer to a combustible material (by angle elbows) to connect with existing set-ups. Of course, I'll always cover myself by stating to consult a certified installer...

Wow! that's a really nice blend of the colors and the art work one of the best ones I have seen. I wish I had it. Maybe someday I will get one.
You will have fun with that.

I called Woodstock this morning and asked them about the 17" flue collar clearance for the corner install. Mike said that clearance is for single wall pipe only and double wall is usually 6" and if that's what I'm using then I go by the pipes instructions (6" clearance from combustibles).

Well then, as long as you have CTCs on the corners, the 6" pipe CTC isn't an issue.
