That's the ornamental honey locust, landscaper stock. Good wood, takes about 3 years to reach its potential.
My first chainsaw milling project turned out 150 8/4 board feet of it. I wish it was ready to use, but that's a while off.
I'm tempted to try making a chair of some sort. Maybe even a rocker. (With 150 board-feet, I could build a fleet of them.)
Little fun and helping a friend. The 362 is starting to get some good work..gonna split it up should be over a cord or 2
Jon, if I had a mill probably my first project would be a nice natural looking bench using a rough cut 3 inch thick slab. Leave the bark on and everything. Just seal the surface with resin or varnish and you would be in business.
Fun, but I don't really need one. I've got the chops to tackle complex woodworking projects; it's only milling that I'm new at.
After it was all split, 1 1/2 cords. Gotta bring it home now..hopefully tomorrow. I'm really enjoying the cutting with the 362. After 8 tanks, it's getting stronger
