Anyway, had an old car taken away today, and was talking to one of the guys after he mentioned that it looks like I'm all set for this winter's firewood.......we were standing right next to the stacks I just moved from the field. I told him that's for next year.
He mentioned needing to go cut some more for a delivery, so I asked if he sold wood.
He said yes, so I asked how much.
$50 for 1/3 cord. Last load I got was $70.:headbang:
He's got Ash, Beech, Oak. Sweet, now I have a better source for Ash.
I told him he could bring me a $100 worth when he can. I'll call him next week. We'll see if he actually cuts to 16" like he says he does.
He stops cutting when the snows flies, so I hope this works soon.

    Noticed a couple days ago.
Yep, real nice kid (young man). I'll follow through next week since he said he's got a couple other deliveries to do first.
This could work out very well, although I'm not sure where I'll put it.
It's Ash, it's all dead. He told me I could burn it this winter.  I'll find out when it gets here......MM in hand. I'll take it no matter what.

I tidied up the forums a week or so ago, with both firewood neighborhood and wood hood I thought I would save us some confusion.

Sounds good Dave, that's what I paid for the cord in of ash I bought, 50 bucks a face cord + 20 bucks for delivery.
Is he going to deliver it for 50 a face cord?

    Yep, $50 csd.
I gotta' find some place to stack it.
Might go in the path to the field, since it acts like a wind tunnel. Should dry in about 2 minutes on a windy day. :picard:

It's gettin' more difficult to keep up every day.
My memory being what it is, I wasn't sure anything had changed, but it just looked different.
    I'll be more vigilant.

Last night's and this morning's fires were made from ash that was split yesterday and it burned beautifully.
That's what's burning in the pic I posted in this thread.
Rolling secondaries | Firewood Hoarders Club
Last year, I burned a lot of moderately seasoned ash and it burned decently.
This stack is recently split ash that will be burned in the next month or so and I'm certain that it will burn very well.

That's nice to know Norky. Like I said, I'll check the moisture content just for the heck of it. If it's burnable, it might go in the shed, and I'll move the Ash that's in there.
On another note, that door is just about identical to our front door. Freaky.
    It's getting replaced soon.
    Did you make the tractor?

This door is going to go at some point as well.
A friend that lives down the road made the tractor. He's retired and tinkers a lot.

I've burned some long-dead ash the same year it was cut but it still does not burn as well as that which has had at least a year in the stack.

So, turns out the other delivery he's making is to our friends north of us.
She's here today for "stitch and biatch", and told me "good luck, he's delivering 5 cords to us".:headbang:

Same with the dead Oak I've been getting.
It's much better after at least a year in the stacks.
