As some of you may know my 82 year old FIL was battling liver and pancreatic cancer (non drinker) well now after completing chemo a couple of months ago we have found that it has spread to his lungs. (non smoker) After debating whether to go back on chemo or not he decided he did want to continue it not because he is afraid of dying but because he wanted to be around for my daughters baby who is due At the end of December. He has had a tube put in to drain fluid off his lungs and is currently fighting a bladder infection in the hospital. When he is home he has been sleeping a lot and has good days and bad days but I think he is about ready to give up the fight as the chemo really puts him for a loop. Through his ordeal he has kept his sense of humor, he had his BIL order an Amish made coffin and when they delivered it last Sat. he joked about trying it on for size. Realizing he probably will pass fairly soon we can only hope he will not be in to much pain or that it will not be prolonged. My wife and her sisters are holding up well for the present and my MIL is doing fine. Gary
God Bless him, you, her, and her sisters and your daughter. The experiences I have had there was medicine for any pain when needed.
Gary, prayers being sent that he can make it until the birth. Sounds like a strong minded guy. Also, congratulations, grandpa.
Gary, so very sorry to hear that this hideous disease is striking so close to home for your family. The will to survive is a key component for anyone enduring the pains of this. Prayers being said that he is somehow able to see the upcoming birth.
I'm sorry for the news Gary, prayers coming your way for a peaceful and pain free time. So glad he has his sense of humor despite the circumstances. Hang in there buddy!
Gary this sounds so much like what we just went through with our best friend. He was 77. One good part with him is that he did not get sick until the end but went through several years of chemo and radiation. We worried as we had a trip planned but when we visited him the day before we left, his last words to us was, "Have fun on the trip, no matter what happens." He knew. Your fil sounds like a good man with a good attitude and a sense of humor. We pray he holds out until he sees his new great grandbaby. And congratulations to you too grandpa.
