supposed to dip down to the freezing mark tonight, and being a nice cool morning I figured it to be a great time to find a couple small "beetle sacrificed" ash trees to use this evening, found two close by, cut up and back up in less than 20 minutes!, gonna have to head back down for more!!.......
already done!!.....................time for a bowl of chili and then enjoy the rest of the day back on the trail!!..........................
don't really need any more at the moment, but i'll spend the time while in the woods marking next late winter/early spring trees that i'll be taking down, already found two nice ash, i'm sure there's plenty more!!..........
yep, that first load was all dead and dry, i did split the next load, it looked to be black walnut or locus that got strangled by vines, it will need to dry for a while, i wanted it cut out anyways.......
8" dead ash around here ,ready to cut n burn , right around 15 percent , as long as it hasn't rained in 2,3 days bark will be dry too Burned fresh cut 4" limbs last night
Nice ride ! Hondas never die Can see a couple stacks in the background, Looks like you're ready for more than one cold night
time for a little more chow and get ready to light that fire, after all that's how this whole great day got started!!..................................
I've burned standing dead elm fresh off the stump, so to speak, if the bark is off and it's been standing a while, sure shot it's dry enough to burn.
Lucky man. Took a dead elm down earlier this year. Most bark off, moisture was still well above 20% when split.
