Near 2/3 a cord . Use this a a log for my wood usage. Last fill was Dec 6 , lasted 3 weeks to Dec 27 Got a full load in the stove with 3 splits left, Time for a re-load. 3 trailer loads. '
Dave I wonder how much that mass of cold wood stack drops the temp in your stove room downstairs? Have you ever looked to see the temperature delta?
Never thought to watch the temp. With the chute open, lot of -2° rolling down into the basement my wife says it gets cold by the box. (but she don't want to change jobs & go outside in the -2° weather. ) The stove combustion air intake is just a few inches above the floor so it sucks up the cold air pretty good. At head level, there's not much difference in temps. The thermometer down there , 82° now which is normal.
Nice work there Dave. That is taking full advantage of that box. Did Sav teach you how to stack that end like that?
I'm looking for those split that you are testing over along the wall.....are they there or did you screw them to the wall.
Dave, we might have hit 40 today. I am surprised when I look at Flint and see them at 47. It is warm here but not that warm for sure. At least we had a little bit of a thaw.
51º here today. I was outside around noon in a light jacket giving the car a good mid winter desalting. My plan was then to do a little splitting but my lovely wife said she wanted to exchange something and go out for dinner. That wood can wait.
The satellite shows the cold air & wind going down thru Canada then thru NE Montana & N Dakota, (-10° in that area, 20 mph winds ) as it moves east, some real cold air with it. Not sure if it gets to you, but there is some wind too, chill factors will be an issue. Was some -30 & -40s air moving down thru the Yukon. Hope it warms up before the lower 48 gets it.
Showing 20's for highs and low teens here next week. Wife says it's snuggling weather.....I can live with that.
