You can totally do it. Your first time take pictures, specifically of the gasket/ diaphragm assembly for each side.

I have had better luck doing the overnight soak in the bucket than with just the spray stuff for the stubborn ones. Both have their place.

I take pictures of everything I take apart-- can't ever remember how to put it back together otherwise.

Its simple. Just get the carb number off the carb and buy a kit for it.

Be clean and neat and take it apart one side at the time and lay it out as you took it apart. Then find the exact parts in the kit and reassemble. I bet you do it in 10 mins your first time. And stihl like you have are easy to get to the carb as well.

Kits on ebay are as little as $5 shipped.

Well there is not Much to get in a picture. One side is 4 screw to remove and a gasket and diaphragm to replace and screw back. The other is another gasket n diaphragm and a tiny arm , spring and needle , again with a 4 screw cover.

I take pics as well if I think I won't remember but I have a pretty good memory and as long as its withing a few weeks or months I can get stuff back together.

Nothing to it Adam. Get the parts. Strip it and spray/soak it. Spray is good but you have to make sure you clear ALL of the little passages and if you don't know where to look, you could miss "the one". Soaking it works awesome but make sure there are no (sometimes hidden) plastic parts in the carb that would be damaged by the cleaner. Rinse it off with spray cleaner before you reassemble.

Most carbs have locating pins/holes in the gaskets and diaphragms so you can't orient them incorrectly if you pay attention. However, for a novice, pay VERY close attention to the order of the parts. ie. - Which side of a gasket the diaphragm is on, etc. because it matters. You will pick up other tidbits like metering lever height adjustment along the way but for a basic clean and rebuild you should not have to make adjustments to things like that if the carb previously ran well.

Yea MM I forgot the obvious about spaying out with cleaner and air the passages. Make sure to wear safety glasses cause if you dont know where the passages lead you can direct it straight at your face. And if you have ever got carb cleaner in your eyes you know how much it burns!!

Have you looked at rockauto.com for your window motor? They sell decent quality aftermarket parts. As an example, a window motor for a 2012 Sequoia is about $68.

Not for the window motor I will have to look. I have bought parts there. But shipping usually kills it. Now if you buy lots of parts and can get them all from the same warehouse its a good deal.

I use advance auto parts coupon codes and can usually get 30-40% off which is cheaper than rock auto. I was getting brake pads for the sequoia and there as cheap or cheaper at advance as rock auto one I ship

Just looked its the same price there as I found on ebay...same brand, Cardone. There $138 plus I would have to pay shipping so there more than ebay sellers.

Have you tried rolling your window all the way down then spraying silicone onto a clean dry rag then wiping silicone onto all the rubber surfaces that contact your window? This can create a tremendous drag on the window movement.. I did this periodically on my last car and it worked well..

No but I mag try it. It works but is slow. The wife overheated it and it cut off like they do on her. Now she Insists I replace out although it works but slow.

I watched a video on this and it looks like a pain to replace.

Easy and cheap to do.. You'll see a big difference if the window is dragging on the rubber..

Dragging and that also the motor slowing.

Its actually in the service/owners manual I think to rub the rubber with silicone spray.

The motor should run the same speed it is just working hard against the friction.. Think you're gonna be surprised the difference this makes..

Wouldn't using Rain-X on the glass have a similar effect? :sherlock:

You'd have to use it on both sides of the glass.. Problem is the rubber is all around the window and you can't really get to the sides of the glass very well..

Maybe. But you would have more trouble getting rain x onto the glass in the contact area in the channel. Silicone could be applied a rag and screwdriver to press it in or a brush.
