I smell success coming your way! You've done it all right, and you are going to love the change this winter! Good on you for making it a family project.

Hardest part of the install (so far)...putting the soapstone back in the stove...during the Tennessee-Georgia game. Not sure who I was more frustrated with, the soapstones or the Vols.

    Victory never tasted so sweet!

    GB!

Here's the latest picture of the stove. We've got it up on the hearth. Will post many more when the chimney and stovepipe are installed.

I'm sure it looks bigger in person.
    That's a big stove.

Kinda my take too. It's a big hearth 4x6 but needs to be for all the clearances. papadave is right, the pic kinda makes it look smaller but it really is proportioned right. Big stove on a big stage!

And it looks a little cold too, now that you mention it.

It is very apparent why you chose the color you have. And that hearth is fantastic too. You have good tastes.

Delays stink. Deep south installer (Huntsville, AL) is struggling to meet demand. They're working jobs all the way over into Mississippi as it seems no one else will touch a wood stove installation. I'd do it myself but my insurance company requires pro (perhaps for the best haha). Looks like Wednesday week before my number is called. On the bright side, enjoying one of the nicest mildest Octobers in recent memory so we're not freezing. My "want to" is outpacing reality. Time to count blessings and be patient.

Picture day! Top notch installation job by the Alabama Fireplace Co. [afcsfireplaces.com] today. Very pleased. Course it's a balmy 73* in Tennessee (weird) so may be a while before we can do our first break in burns.

As promised, here are the installation pics and several glamour shots of Ideal Steel #852 on the next post. Enjoy!
