Had an older neighbor show up at my store and said he had something for me in the back of his pickup. Went outside and found this. He said he couldn't keep his property up anymore so he was selling and moving into an apartment in town. Said I could have this for cleaning up some storm damaged trees in his yard about 2 years ago.
Go slow with that. I tore my shoulder a few years back doing some trimming. Didn't know I was hurting at the time, but the next day I knew it. Tore 2 muscles.
I do, we were in a car wreck 8 years ago where I broke my right arm and shoulder. The dr. said I also tore the rotator cuff and would need surgery for that ( after going through physical therapy that ain't happening). So I take it easy when doing anything strenuous with my arms, I work about 30 to 45 minutes and rest about the same. When you're 56 and out of shape you can't do much at a time anyway.
I have the echo version. But also got a 20 foot manual type silky saw, and now i sue it just as much. I save the pole saw for 10-12 footer that are 3 inches around or bigger, everything else bigger or higher i use the manual silky. They are like $200 bucks i think i paid, but razor sharp and can take of a two-three inch limb within only a few pulls. If if that saw can't reach, i don't do it.
I was 8 years older than you when I tore mine. I was standing on the tailgate of my F150 trying to trim up a hedge. I was too cheap to hire someone. Man that cost me more than I ever wanted to pay. They wanted to do surgery, but were so late getting the test and workup done, (6 months) that I finally opted out. Slept with my arm over my head and it healed on its own. My solution, cut half the hedge down. Rest of it will follow when I get someone to do it. I've got 12 yrs. on you.
Check and see if your polesaw is telescoping. I did a bunch of trimming with a Stihl once, and did not know that it telescoped. The day I discovered that feature was a great day! Have fun
I have a 10" version of the pole saw. Its an amazing time saver for anything under 6" branches, that what is pictured is the biggest pole saw ever. Stand clear!
I don't think it is reading up on it online said it was rated at 96 inches and that's just about how long it is.
Yes, after using the trimming pole, a Mexican version like Greg's, I know they can give you a workout especially if one tries to go more horizontal (like when you are up a tree). So I can easily imagine what one is like with a power saw on the end of it. Not just a shoulder tearer but a holy terror too.
wheeling those things out at 8' is about as much fun as anyone wants. Resist the temptation to get on a ladder with one - totally throw your balance off. They can be super handy when you've got a tree hung on a stump
Don't mean to like your misfortune but I was trying to do the math on a polesaw and also added a 6ft and 10 ft ladder into the equation....Thankfully I finally vetoed the whole idea because I am no longer strong enough in the arms to be doing such things, Lol....
