Seems like there was a free version of that too. I did the same when I first got this laptop with 8 on it.
First glance I thought I was on the wrong thread and this was about truck engines (driving, front ends support, other foreign terms)
What you don't have the latest CUPS ??? It has covered the ground quite well for me. I love playing with all of the window managers. HE double L I've even run some Windows apps on this system, Netflix thinks I'm running Windows and Amazon Prime is certain that I'm running Silverlight, I don't know what the heck Crackle thinks I'm running. PS: IBM mainframe operating systems seem to think I have a heavy iron mainframe.
This is my second day on Windows ten. It takes to my printer OK. I have MS office 13 and no issues seen there. There is the think in the start button that allows you to tell it what you are looking for, then it pull it up for you. You have to play around with the start screen. Don't forget to pull right with it, and roll down to see all your old apps you had in 8.1. There is another way to access them in the start button. Anyway. Looks more like 7 but with more options than 8.1 I haven't seen compatibility issues yet. If you like 7, you should like this better. If you hated 8.1, you should like this better. Takes a while to install, but you don't need to know anything to do it. Just sit back and it happens all on its own.
I found this-- http://bgr.com/2015/07/31/windows-10-upgrade-spying-how-to-opt-out/ Probably a good idea to follow its advice.
I don't have a darn thing to hide, I don't think Windows is monitoring bill payments etc. Just that you visited sites, and if you bought anything, what that is. But that has been going on for some time. Whenever I view the daily newspaper on line, the adds on their pages are always of things I was looking at while on Amazon, sears, etc. I ordered some underwear of a site, then had underwear adds on the paper and FB for the next several days.
Same here!! I saw a dresser drawer chest on clearance and tried to order it, of course, out of stock at that price, but I expect to see Shopko advertisements on my email site for awhile.
So, I didn't want to wait any longer for update to show the little upgrade window. I ended up downloading an ISO and just finished installing.
I had a major problem this morning. I pulled up the internet in the morning, walked away, then no internet connection. Called Dish, modem was working properly. Crash course in "recovery" in win10, I could not google for instructions. I am up and running again, must have been an app? Maybe after AVG or Malwarebytes updated this morning?
I agree. I bet it was the antivirus. I know that the Norton had to upgrade itself for the 10. I still haven't got the nerve to try the upgrade yet--maybe tomorrow.
Would someone with 10 running check something for me please. If you hit, "Ctrl Alt Delete", "Start Task Manager", Select the check box "Show Processes From All Users" then right click any program. A list will appear that hopefullly has an option of "Set Affinity" Left clicking the "Set Affinity" should open a window to allow selecting which procesors are used with a program. Doing this lets me play the old single cpu games on this newer machine. Thanks
Okay, I done did it. Took about 7 hours from start to finish, including trying to figure out what happened to Norton (had to re-install from ISP). Now if I can just get used to the gol-blamed start menu, that would be a bonus. Had a hard enough time finding files that I forgot the names of in W7. Heck, I even had 7 set up to appear like Classic Windows, this version doesn't have any of that. Guess it is supposed to look like a tablet, or a phone or some other device I don't own.
Copy-and-paste. Drag-and-drop. These are your friends. Otherwise here are the best "cheats" to know for any Windows system. Control A = "Select All" Control C = "Copy" Control V = "Paste" Control X = "Cut"
