there is s thread on here somewhere for this. I have followed this for a while, not sure if you know the back story to the little girl who invented it. if you get a chance, read it.
If someone used kindling a lot, I would say it could be handy. Especially for someone who is lighting a lot of fires. Also looks handy for anyone who can't or doesn't want to be swinging an axe/hatchet. Younger peeps/ladies/ Scotty Overkill!
Simple idea that will work. There are many ways of doing it; just choose which way suits you best. Or even if you don't want to use kindling, then simply start using super cedars. No more hatchet work.
It is kind of an interesting idea. Not that hard to make your own if you can weld. Really just a duplex wedge held upside down.
With all the tops n sticks around here, we're never in need for kindlin'. I guess for the occasional burner or those who only ever get whole splits, yeah. Someone recognized a need and invented a thing for it - cool.
I sit out on the patio and split my kindling with a hatchet. The only cost is for the beer. This year it's knotty pine wainscoting from the dining room, ought to burn well.
Here's a fun way to make kindling... start at 2:20 on the vid... then jump to 4:20 for the kindling...
