And have I think decided on this one. I would be getting it in the 8 x 16 variety, but considering 8x14 also. But only 250 different in price so leaning 8x16and regular hitch style, not goose neck. Like the construction, really like the drop down sides for loading, heavy duty ramps for times I have to move tractor, scissor lift, built in 110 charger, etc.... Sure would be nice as I will be working with smaller crew to not have to stack outbound, or unload by hand inbound. Maybe I can deliver a little spring mulch or something to help on costs. Please let me know if anyone has experience with Load Trail and has some advice. Looking for a trailer to finish the career with!

    Greg,
Loadtrail make good equipment as do some other mfg's. I used to have a pintle hitch dump trailer for construction debris and many, many more uses. I think you are on the right track using a fifth wheel hitch. The load on the back with the standard hitch or pintle hitch is tricky. Having the load point over the axle is very nice. My rig was homemade by a very good welder friend, who has passed away. He used to fix all the cheaply built ones that broke so he new how to make one that didn't. He did try to get me to use a fifth wheel hitch when I built mine but I was too young and inexperienced to know the difference.
Finally, don't forget maintenance on heavy duty trailers, they take a beating and regular maintenance cannot be overlooked.

My only experience with them personally are Homesteader trailers. One is 6x12 and the other is 14' long. I've had 6 tons of rock in the bigger one and it dumped it fine. It is the dual cylinder set up. If I were to buy one for me it would be gooseneck. It will pull much better and turn easier.

Many thanks, read thru that whole thread and it was very helpful.

Think I am leaning towards 16 ft goose neck from load trail

Will likely be last trailer I buy lord willing, so am going with ramps, 16 ft with removable sides. Sold on load trail brand.

Will order soon and post some pics first time I get her loaded

Won't regret gooseneck on a heavy trailer. Got 3 of them.

    Greg,
I just bought a load trail dump last month after looking at all of the brands and found the best price by far on a load trail out in your neck of the woods. I'm sure you found the same dealer-you both have the same first name. If you haven't, let me know and I'll PM you his info. My new load trail is far better thought out than the cam superline I was using until now. It isn't the cheapest, but it is the nicest IMO.

You are correct on dealer, and i did the deal. Pick it up Tuesday after they install the flip over ball in my bed since its a goose neck. Seems like a straight shooter type guy, and when i needed 16 feet with fold down sides on a dump, really was the only local place i could go. Trailer likely overbuilt for what i need, but am hoping for 20 years (my last 20) of wood cutting out of it.

I've never had a fifth wheel set-up in a truck but I've always thought how awesome it must be backing up and hooking on... can look right at it from the cab... Congrats on the trailer Greg. Looking forward to pics when you get it home.

Well, here she is. Will forward on some pics whenever i do the first load. 95 here and humid today, so likely won't be cutting unless we can find an evening gig. trailer_72815.jpeg
