Here are a few pictures of the old saw mill my Grandfather owned and my Dad worked in while He was still in school . ( My Avatar is My Dad barely 20 years old standing in front of the firstTruck He drove for a company He worked for for 45 years ) .
A couple of Photo's of a old stump We found while Elk Hunting a few ago . Notice the chopped notch's for the spring boards to rest in .
As a side note about the Mill , behind the old cat is a old logging arch . My Grandfather was in the process of making a new set when that photo was taking and the new set was put into service shortly after . That arch is still in Our Family and will be moved to and installed in My driveway loop in the near future . Fred H.
It makes you have a lot of respect for the old time loggers and saw millers! My father logged in the 1950s and 60s. I wish I had some pictures of that.
My Great Grandfather and my Grandfather worked the woods in Nova Scotia. They went into the woods and stayed there months on end. G. Grandfather's life was cut short when there was a kickback in the saw mill. My grandfather came out of the woods then, got married, moved to Maine and started his family with 9 kids. Was a welder on the RR.
