Brought some of my 2015/2016 wood undercover to start the 2015 season off. Glad I did, seems like it rains every day around here. Mixture of red oak, sugar maple, sycamore, Sasafrass and a few others. Probably half red oak.

Cut a little red oak, maple and white oak last week, pretty darn hot and humid around here!

Looks good! That wood should be good and dry for the beginning of fall. I wonder how much drying gets done in the summer here with the rain every day and the humidity always high, I'm in Virginia and it sounds like you've been having similar weather in Ohio. We had a low humidity day yesterday and it felt great! I could work outside without sweating out a gallon of water and there was even a breeze!

Last year was my first year burning so I'm still new to this. I have my 15/16 top covered but should I have it next to the house undercover already? I was planning on moving it sometime it late September.

I move some of mine close to the house end of September/early October. I sometimes wait even a bit longer because I want any bugs in the wood to be less active before I move it. It'll be fine top-covered for now.

Yeah the bugs too, same reason, I don't bring any wood in the house, for shoulder season, just pull it off the porch until it gets real cold

Your fine.... This is more about me filling up my empty racks from last year near the house which makes room in my outside racks to cut, stack and split during the peak heat and humidity of mid summer..... :loco:

Sounds like a good plan to me, Fanatical. Putting already dried firewood under a roof to keep it dry is like taking action to preserve an investment. Last summer, the window to haul the stacked dry wood into our "shed" for the 2014/15 supply had rain every 4 days. Though (3 year plan) wood was dry inside, the outer surfaces weren't. Hoping for a weeklong rainless stretch early October.

I don't plan to move wood into the shed until sometime in August, when we've had several dry days in a row.
    Might take a month.

I usually move wood into the barn in mid or late October. That is plenty early enough.

Not all have had a wet spring. Funny that today I had a township resident come to pick up mosquito treatment. I was asked and so far this year we've had only 4 residents come for the treatment. There just has not been standing water up until now. Of course that can change in a flash as we are beginning to see it already.

Backwoods Savage ...I asked my buddy, who lives close to the coast, if the skeeters and blackflies had been as bad as other years. Ours have been very noticeably less and he said the same down there. I have a theory they all flew west to Wyoming...

    So... how you feelin' Dennis?

Skeeters have been terrible up until a couple days ago, now they're merely annoying.
However, the biting flies have made their yearly PITA appearance.
Yeah Dennis Backwoods Savage , how are you feeling?

Getting through a bit of a rough period with the pain. This has definitely turned out to be much more than just a simple hip joint replacement but we'll get through it.

Skeeters and black flies have not been bad this year around here but the activity of the skeeters has picked up dramatically in the past couple weeks. Had to pass out more skeeter treatment this morning but still have gone through only a case so far this year. Raining now so if more standing water, more skeeters.
