Loaded about an hour ago. Stove has no flames and the cat is eating good! The cat is so bright it's lighting up the hearth and stove with it's glow!

Here is tonight's load about an hour ago and a shot of the cat a few minutes ago. My glass stays pretty clean this time of year since I'm burning hotter.

How long does it take for a load like this to get going?

Nice rdust. Very nice. You have reminded me of my days with my Pacific Energy Super 27 and the glass door it had. I use to enjoy watching the fire so much. Now my gasification boiler, which I really like, has no glass door. :( So I can't watch the fire anymore. :(

That's it! It is time for me to figure out how to fix that situation. I need to move the P.E. somewhere and get it set up so I can have a fire in it when I want!

rdust. You started this. So if I get into trouble with the wife for spending money on it. Guess who's fault it is!

That picture was taken seconds after the stove was loaded and the door was closed. Pretty much the time I took me to close the door and grab the camera of the kitchen counter.

No problem, send her my way! :D

It is quite dead white ash that was 17-18% when I split it two years ago :axe:. I'll try it again tonight.

I have found huge splits to be a pain in the azz to work with.

But they make good pictures. They aren't bad in the big box, if they fit in the door.

I might save that one for Sunday. Forecast low is 3, so it's safe to assume we'll be well below zero here. I have four others like that. They burn hot for a looong time. I can fit one of those and one 8-9" round, and fill in with normal splits.

Wondering what you had for lows. The last 3 nights here have been 2, 3, and 2. Won't get that cold tonight. We also were back in the 20's today but just found out our official high was 20 yesterday too.

Not really sure, my indoor/outdoor thermometer setup was showing single digit temps. It usually shows lower than the weather sites so I never know which one is right.

We usually don't jive with the weather reports but sometimes do. The temps I gave were the official temps out of Saginaw.

Owosso airport is a little closer and they do report temperatures but the official comes from either Saginaw, Fling or Lansing.

I think all airports are official weather stations.
    linked to the weather service.
Know they would come by out site annually for an inspection & calibration.
Remote site, so it had satellite communications to NOAA & NWS.

Well, Brown airport near Saginaw is used for the web temperatures, but, it is not the official temperature. That comes from MBS International, which used to be called Tri-City. So, although they do report temperatures, they are not all official.
