Why is it fine to wake up to a 60 degree house in June, but not January?

Hadn't considered that. It did rain last night and I had a fire going.

edit- As I was musing on this today, I almost believe it's the expectation that the day will get warmer.

    Yeah
Don't have to panic & get a fire going so thing don't' freeze soon.
Will warm up by noon (hopefully)

But I did start a fire today, high today was 55°, wind out of N at 15, overcast ,
furnace kicked on at 69°, ( hate that sound ) house 72° now :)

I never want the house anywhere near 60, no matter the season. My blood must be thinner than you up-north and in-the-mountains guys. :)

There seems to be physiological element at play, at least in my mind, because when it turns cold every year those first few days you really feel it, but then after a week or so your body acclimates and the colder temps have less of a bite....
    My $.02.
    Or maybe I'm getting :BrianK:

One of the reasons is because the air temp is getting DOWN to 60 in the house. Everything else is warmer than that - bed, sofa, walls. In the winter, the air temp might get up to 70 or down to 60, but the walls, floor and such are colder than the air temp.

My house got down to around 66 last week, when the temps dropped and I got really close to turning the heat pump on. That was too cool for my tastes!

Same reason as when it's 50 outside in October and everybody has a coat and hat on and says "man this sucks" then when we hit 50 in April everybody gets their shorts out and says "man this is great"

Same reason that 50 degrees in the spring has people walking around in shorts and t-shirts but 50 in the fall has people donning coats and hats:whistle:

When I wake up and the house is 60 in June, I'm glad because I know before too long the heat and humidity will have me sweating buckets. Usually not so in January.

The temperature in our house is controlled by two things, well really one, ----my wife. And after 50 years of marriage, I don't care who you are, you just finally give up.
