Below are pictures , which we all like, of the wood racks and wood in them.
1st 2 picture's is 2015 wood witch is ash, soft maple, English walnut, sweet gum and black walnut. There are over 5 cord in these two racks.
3nd picture 2016 hardwood [over 2 1/2 cord]And it is [the real dark] is persimmon and on the left in that row is elm and the rest of rack is oak
4th picture is 2017 hardwood [over 2 1/2 cord]and other than a couple wheel barrow loads of mulberry and hedge it is all oak.
5th picture is 2018 hardwood [over 2 1/2 cord] and it is about half honey locust then hackberry, cherry, elm ,apple ash and mulberry.
6th picture is my split area with a rack of soft maple that will be used for the start and end burn season of 2016. You will see a small rack of just over a cord that is a start for 2019 and my shorty bin.
Total amount of wood in all racks almost 15 cord. Racks are all 4 wide x 16 foot long and 5 foot 6 inches high on the inside. 1 Is 4x 4 1/2 x 8 and one the same wide and tall except 20 foot long.
Thanks for looking Roy[ tigeroak ]

You have quite an assortment, some of them I have never had. Nice to know you are processed and ready with 15 cords. Peace of mind is a nice feeling in the firewood community. Nice work!

Nice, you got me beat! Go have a BIG beer!

I'm at 13.5 cord right now. That will get me thru to 2019 (about 3 cord per year +). Now it's just a matter of replacing what I burn each year.

I got a new stove last of the burning season and don't know what I will need per year. So I have 5 cord for this year and if we have a bad winter, use more than the 5 cord in the first 2 racks, I can use the other rack of soft maple [picture 6] and if needed can get into 2016 hardwood as it has 3 years in rack now.

Nice work Roy. Also the new stove is probably much more efficient so you should use less. I say that remembering when we updated to the Fireview and cut our wood needs in half or more!

That big collection of wood fuel all covered by a roof is a really good plan. You have nearly every species under the sun, it must have come from many many different places. Good job, man, remember to sit back and appreciate all the work to make your hoard - we sure do.

It must be a good feeling to have that done! I'm working to get 4 years ahead myself but I've got a good bit of work to do yet. I really like the way all your wood is under a roof and the mix of species sounds great. Good work!

    Roy,

Very impressive stacks you have there. Looks like you all set for the next 3 years or so. Persimmon is about as good as you can get... I have a few dozen living trees that I won't cut, but if they ever succumb to something, I can't wait to see how good I hear that it is. :) Post your findings on it when you start burning it, I for one would like to hear what you think.

To answer a few questions that has been asked- I got a Drolet and hope it cuts our use of wood in half or even in 1/3 . If it cuts it in half I am 5 years ahead.

All the wood came from right here in town except the oak and it was a long drive of about 6 mile round trip.

The persimmon It is ready to burn and I might try a few this coming winter just to see what it is like. The church here in town bought a lot across from them and they wanted it gone so they hired a guy to cut it down and he told me to get what I wanted and I told him I would take it ALL and the hard maple. I told him to get on the ground and I would take from there.

The last rack I need to get me some used tin and put the roof on. Thanks for the replies and you bet it feels good to be that far ahead on the game. I asked a farmer about a LARGE honey locust to cut down that was dead and will get that this fall, right out side of town about a mile from my drive.

Wife and I was setting here having lunch today and a friend here in town dropped about 6 rounds about 18 inches across of hedge off already cut to size all I had to do is split and stack, done that right after I ate. Added more to the 2019 stack.

Great job Tiger.....nothing like having a good hoard of well seasoned wood. I'm sitting at about 20 cords split and stacked and another 4 or so to split yet that may have to wait till fall at this point.
