So went co workers house this afternoon to get ash tree he had taken down by tree service. Well his back yard is STEEP. The dually is only 2 wheel drive. After fretting about for a few minutes the urge to get free ash kicked in and I went for it. Got down to the level portion of yard and was able to get close to pile. Decided to load truck first for weight (good choice). So we loaded truck and trailer bs' d as we loaded not noticing the dark clouds gathering. We both looked up and said "oh sh@#$&*% t. Jumped in dually and hammered down ( he said dont worry about yard but dont want tear it up) came flying up out of yard and hit pavement just in time for the it to let loose. Down pour. Couldnt see ahead of me. If I had waited 30 seconds my truck would have been ther till it dryed out. Whew. Now gotta figure out when I can get back to get the rest. Prob 2 more loads. Will take pictures of yard next time but here is what I got today.
Nice job sir! When looking at getting free ash, we hoarders just act-perils be da#@md...just gotta get some ash whenever it presents. And we all know there is seldom ever free ash to be had...we usually pay one way or another so your feat is quite exceptional-keep us posted markr
Rained all evening so it will be at least 2 or 3 day to safely get back in if no more rain. But free ash.
That's a haul and wow, you got some trick equipment there! Excellent timing before the down-pour. Good job.
It just hit here markr-didnt last long but was quite a show-I'm just south of Charleston-thunder still rumbling
Lol for sure. Got home ate dinner, sat on front porch with cold one and watched it rain some more. Its all good.
Nailed it Horkn-knocked it out of the park...let me know when your pickaroon/hookaroon arrives-its a handy tool you will love
Nice loads The added weight was a good thing. Must've been a big tree. 2 more loads yet to get. Takes me 7 birch trees, average, to get a full trailer load (± 1 cord).
Sounds like a lot of us got some heavy downpours yesterday. But, we could still use more rain here as it was so dry it soaked in nicely. Talked to my son who lives in PA just a little bit ago and they are getting the downpours now.
Fyi stacked small rounds (2 to 3 inches) split larger round with fiskers today ( gotta love being on vacation ) that load is about 1 and 1/2 cords give or take.
