Thought I would post a pic of a load from Sunday. Sometimes it is good to get the old girl loaded! Gary
Looks great with a light dusting of snow to boot. See you've got some Stihl bar oil. I moved away from that fancy oil....a little too rich for my blood when Menards sells it for $8 a gallon. I did notice some other Stihl dealer oil for less than $10 a gallon when I was at the shop on Friday...curious what the differences are between that and the $14 jug pictured above. Anway...didn't mean to get off topic. Nice load. Shouldn't take too long to split and you'll be enjoying your fruits in a couple seasons from now.
Nice load I see cherry, ash must on the bottom . Time for sideboards & a window guard ? Load the wagon !
I'd say that load is stretching your girls legs out a bit, was she squatting a bit low? Nice load all the same. Get Em split and stacked and they should be ready in short time. I had some cherry ready in 6 mos one yr.
Love those two, cherry I'm partial to just because it spits easy smells great and burns decent. Ash is great to have anytime as well, and splits like a dream.
So that is what Cherry bark looks like? A few questions, I cut a tree up yesterday that I can't identify. It's bark looks very much like this stuff above. I shoot some pics tonight if it's not raining, but: 1. Does it (Cherry) smell when cut or split at all? 2. If so, does it smell a bit like an evergreen by any chance? 3. Is it a bit stringy when splitting it? The stuff I was cutting up had a bit of an evergreen smell to it, but not as strong as a normal Scoth or Pitch pine. The tree was down for a year (a "Sandy" tree), but it's roots were still intact, and in the ground so it was still a bit green. When split, the wood was stringy, and it took a bit of coaxing to separate some of the strings leftover after the split. Trying to figure out what it is....
1. It can and usually does. 2. If so, I have never noticed it. Smells like cherry to me. 3. Most definitely, but still does not split particularly hard.
Looks like a good hefty load and a fine thing that your truck is strong enough to handle it. My 'lil Ford Ranger with a pile like that in the back would almost be doing a wheelie. Or flattened leaf springs more likely. Good catch!
