Sooo...for about 2 years I've been driving by this huge oak that lost about half its limbs. Empty field, no one around to ask. Friday my co-worker was driving by and the owner was out there cutting the field on his tractor, and so I went over and he said come and get all you want!!! The base is about 48"diam, and the arms are 18-20" each! Some is getting kinda punky, but the heart wood is perfect. Oh, did I mention that it is about 5min from my house! On top of all that the owner gave me a key to the gate so I can come and go without bothering him. I estimate approx. 2-2.5 cord. The "Wood Beast" wasn't even fazed..got a load Friday, one Saturday and one more today. I will probably get 5-6 more loads! The 029 and the 359 got a good workout. I have some one pagers I keep in the door of my car I use for work

They have a brief intro, explains that I have the needed gear, I will work hard, safe and will clean up after myself

Then my name and number etc... Sometimes they are a good way to get first in line when owner is not around

It also explains I am not reselling and use the wood to heat my home

Just an idea, and congrats on a great score close to home!

Great idea...I have left notes before, but a pre-printed one might come in handy.
