Neighbor moved out in mid January,I'd been watching their cat because they were separated & were gone so much recently - an adopted former stray since early November (he spent 20% of the time here over the past 5-6 yrs anyway).I got him, a massive 40+ yr old Craftsman Contractor's Table Saw w/ 53" Biesemeyer T Square fence & $38 worth of bottles/cans for cleaning out their garage/walkout basement & the backyard. The saw is great, but 17lb Scuzz is family now,he & my 19yr old male cat bonded within a couple weeks. He respects & watches over his somewhat frail companion.
Heartwarming, I remember you posting this before on another thread, still an awesome story to hear, especially since he's tight with your senior cat now
That was a freakin great story! I can picture it in my mind and funnier yet, I can picture a few old guys I know doing the same thing!
thistle: In the spring of 2014 we brought a kitten home, a furry ball of energy. We had three other cats, 3, 7, & 18 years old. We took the kitten because he was on his way to the pound. When we let him free in the house he explored and attacked the three and seven year old cats. They could snarl, growl, swat him but he would not stop. He started toward the older cat and froze in his tracks. The old guy just stared at him and he got the message. For the next 9 months he would battle with the two younger ones until he was tired. Then he would find the old guy, get respectfully close, about three feet away, and go to sleep. He is on a see food diet, he sees food and he eats it, but he did not touch it until the old one was finished. Cats seen to know what the pecking order is and respect it. KaptJaq
