Ok need a little help here. Can someone help me identify the husky I bought today lol. Yes I know I know that you all are thinking " he bought a saw with out knowing what it is ". Well I have some ideas on what it is, but the name plate is gone and the badge on the recoil is mostly scraped off. I'm thinking it is either a 281,288,298, or 2100 by the said and front anti vibe of I'm remembering them right. Here's some pics.
Just curious for future reference, but how can you tell it isn't a 298/2100? I have absolutely zero experience with these saws. I just knew it was a big husky and for the $120 I spent on it while it was running was gonna be worth it.
Yah, (according to IPLs) 281 had that front AV spring available. So my guess is 281/288. Awaiting bore measurement. 2100 has a fat magnesium handle assembly ... oil/fuel caps are right nest to each other ... manual oiler button is right there in plain sight ... just to name a few features ..
It will be a bit before I get I measurement. I just got a call from the girlfriend to meet her. We all know how that goes "gotta keep momma happy, because if momma isn't happy no one is happy".
Ok thank you always good to know. What is different about the 298. Also do the 281/288 share the same chain brake/clutch cover and top cover?
Running out on your own saw ID thread- duuuuude..... Nice saw for $120 tho. She buying dinner or the movie tickets now that your light 1.2 Benji's? J/k. Eric VW
Plus she sounded like she was getting liquored up. So that means there may be more then food involved and I really don't wanna miss out on that! If you catch what I am saying!
Can't say I blame ya there But then again, that saw must be a good runner if you passed on spending the buck 20 on some groceries!!! Eric VW
Toad22t, If you're lookin at posts long enough to "like" 'em, I wonder if she ain't passed out already?! Eric VW
The 2100/2101 has the manual oiler also, the 298 automatic oiler only. All 3 saws are same displacement. They didn't start putting chain brakes on them til 1984 or so.My 1983 2100CD has the original clutch cover, with no holes or space for a chain break.
Nearly 3:30 post... Must've been some dinner last nite! 54mm, that sounds like a biggin! What model # will that equal, I wonder? Eric VW
