The load this morning was the last of the Answer splits I had inside and they measured < 17". These are all at least 20" and a couple I had to make sure to position to the right or left of the secondary air feed tube in the back or they wouldn't have fit so maybe as long as 22"?
So right around an hour later and the air control has been completely closed for the past 20 minutes and we're up to 80 in here. Stove top and sides (above the firebrick) are at right around 600 and the pipe just above the damper (which is full open) is right at 300, all IR gun readings. Dancing secondaries on and off in the firebox otherwise just mostly charred and glowing wood.
Hey Sam, Sounds like you got a good burn, and heat, on the morning load. Plenty of coals to restart. You don't need the newspapers. I would strongly suggest that you move them away from those 600 deg. sides of the new stove. Really got to liking you a bunch in the past few days.
I am really tempted to go get one from menards. I have been fighting trying to get air movement to the other side of the house. About ready to say the hell with it and go get another stove.
Yes..the lodge look..mus be popular..my living room is done in pine also..if i get time ill put a pic up
An ancient smoke dragon with a malfunctioning draft control. Gets the stove room up over 100f, the far side of the house stays 50-60f. Tried some creative use of fans and forced air ducting. Doesn't work too well. Single story dwelling approx 900 Sq ft.
Have you tried small fans on the floor to move cold air towards the stove room ? Hay if you have the money , that stove is a good price right now . When I went from my dragon to the EPA Lopi my wood use went down a lot, with your stove running that hot you would probably cut your wood use in half
two of the three smoke dragons we burned were pipe, no problem, but the last one was a slammer in a chimney, how is yours vented?
I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with this stove then Dan. Like HD said, some fans on the floor trying to move the cool air toward the stove room could be the ticket. That and the wood usage factor as you move into the newer stoves is pretty huge.
It is better and works like a charm ,I have 2 small fans strategically place on the floor ,running on low, pushing cold air to the stove room and temps at the other end of house (1200 sq ft) are only 3-4 degrees different
I will be doing that once our lil one is old enough to be safe around fans on the floor for our back rooms
I use these ,I don't know if a kid could even get fingers in one , the sell em at amazon too Honeywell HT-900 Turbo Force® air circulator Honeywell Table Air Circulator Fan
