It appears that I will not get much hoarding done this weekend. Weatherman says snow.... 1-3" overnight and 5-8" tomorrow
I'm looking forward to the snow.....I'll be our cutting with my winter rig! Hoping to get 12 sleighfuls in tomorrow and 12 on Sunday, if the weather cooperates! Maple sugaring season is a-comin!!
Right there with ya buddy single digit temps with -15 to -20 wind chills here too, up to 8" more snow tomorrow.Going in to work at 4am all week working on the dock, freezing , then taking my freight run, thawing pipes at home I'm just plain too worn out to do more with firewood then bring it up on the deck so the wife can feed the stove.
We're supposed to be getting 5-8" of snow tomorrow but the temps supposed to hit 30. That'll be a heat wave for sure compared to the minus temps and double digit negative wind chills we've had. I may try and get some wood split tomorrow depending on the snow situation.
You can still cut in that. I do and it's fun. (Unless it is coming down real hard and steady. Just need to move a little slower and be sure of each step when things are slippery. Have fun and be safe.
Been a cold week here, from 0 to 9 degrees highs all week. 4-7 inches coming tomorrow beginning around noon, but going to get out and try to get a half cord of standing dead ash for back up. Thus far this is the coldest winter I have had since I began heating with all wood
Cool, my oldest son went for his first maple syrup making trip this weekend with his future father in law. Sounds like a fun deal i would like to try sometime.
calling for 5-7 here.....that's why I got out late this afternoon and cut a nice load of cherry and pin oak. Now boy was it cold out there at about 6ยบ but I thought to take a long the ski mask which came in real handy. Got a little nervous heading out because the snow had a crust on it and thought I wasn't going to make it out of the field, second run at it got me going. Got to get up early to get it down to the back yard and unload before we get all the snow or it will have to stay on the truck which I don't want in case I need to haul the snowblower anywhere.
Don't feel bad im right there with you I have a brand new 441 that hasn't even seen fuel in the tank outside the factory. Don't look to be cutting anytime soon. I'm so bored I've switched the bar and chains back and forth on the thing a few times trying to get the feel of it
Yea...Safety is the issue. It is pretty steep and uneven where we are cutting. Don't really need the wood...just bored Same situation here Woodrat...My new 441 has about 3 tanks thru it and she is ready to eat
Not much snow here but these below zero nights that stretch until noon is just too cold for this old body now so I wait it out and get exercise by putting wood in the stove then watching it burn. At least I'm comfortable. I see we have another forecast of -15 tomorrow night. I hope they are wrong.
We've got almost a foot of snow on the ground now, although we had a couple of inches before this morning. This morning it was again below zero, although it has since warmed up to a toasty 10 degrees. At least we don't have that much wind to speak of. The only work I'm doing with wood now is watching it burn.
