Got our first oil delivery last week since installing our stove in November. 10 gallons! I bet the delivery guy was surprised. We should probably cancel the auto delivery and just get the tank filled one a year.
Nearly all wood/coal for 20+ years. About 150 gals of propane/yr cooking and some heat. By mid April throwing wood in that furnace is old.
I hear ya Dan. I love visiting your neck of the woods but I don't know how you heat with the wood you've got access to. Actually thanks to this site I'm getting a better idea now but I'm very grateful to have the wood we do down here!
We're burning wood upstairs, and propane downstairs. Wifey wants a pellet stove downstairs, and you know how that goes. I'm in agreement, so now I'm learning and looking.
Sure has worked great for me, shoulder seasons and single digit temps. I guess one could call me a wood stove junky too.
The furnace hasn't come on once this year. I tried to turn it on a couple weeks ago, and it turns out it's not actually working!! My wood stove does a great job heating my house, but I think I'll still need to fix it. Nice to have it as a backup to keep the pipes from freezing if I can't be there to tend the fire.
