The weather has been perfect for gathering firewood and Campinspecter has been going without me last week as I have to work. Today, I got to go and "help".

We went back to the place Campinspecter posted the fires burning in the piles. Here is what is left of those piles.

As you can see, there is still lots of Douglas Fir left for the taking.

Hooked up to the winch and reeling it in.

I don't often get such a perfect picture of the chainsaw working. New bar and chain really make a difference.

    100_1031.JPG

Almost time to start splitting. I am not a user of chainsaws. Campinspecter does not want to be constantly filing from me rocking it, pinching it or more than likely getting it stuck so bad, we need another chainsaw to get it free.

Log dog in and winched to the splitter. Time for the fun part. It really makes a loud crack when it splits.

I am suppose to be loading into the truck but I have more fun taking pictures of Campinspecter having fun.

    100_1041.JPG

Sorry, no pictures of the full load. At 22" to 24", we get three full rows in the back of the truck.

After reading about the storms back east, yes, it was a great day to be out gathering firewood.

Those are some big rounds, great way to make use of that equipment to move the logs and rounds then split em.

Did he get a new bar or a new saw?? That bar sure looks pretty :)

I love buying new saws. I'm sure he does too! Men and there toys :)

Great pics Woodwidow, love seeing Allan in action! He is a beast, with some of the best equipment a man could have (boiler, saw, splitter, and a great wife)!

Keep the great threads coming! We love reading your threads and looking at your pics

The solution there is to learn to file chains yourself. Once you've invested some time in doing so, you'll put the saw in the dirt a lot less frequently than if someone else does the sharpening for you.

He bought a new bar for the chainsaw. This time it is a Husqvarna bar instead of the Oregon bar he had before. The Oregon bar was on there for five years and has cut mega cords of wood so it was time for a new one. He found a deal on chains so he had a new chain on.

There are some things I am more than willing to let Campinspecter do and I not have to learn how. I can run the splitter (I make kindling that way) although not as effectively as him and I can run the wood boiler but I let him have all the fun with the chainsaw.

Very nice, but you need to let Campinspector take a few pictures too, otherwise we are gona start thinking he's the only one having all the fun.

The one that holds the camera gets to take the pictures. I am camera shy :emb:! Besides I am the one getting sweaty and looking grungy. :D

Can I unlike a picture? Log in as Campinspecter and delete it? I came home expecting to help unload the truck load he got today and it was all done! Bonus! :D except for the picture.

It was a little chilly outside for the Rat terriers outside so a snooze in the truck was just fine!
