Has anyone used one of these. My left elbow is giving me problems with tendonitis. When I grip anything like a split or round it really irritates it. I have not using the left arm much but delivering wood one handed is pretty slow. I ordered one for $26.95 off ebay since none of the local Husky or Jonsered Dealers had them in stock.

I use a regular pulp hook with a replaceable tip. I have two of them, one for each hand. I use them all the time when bucking logs. Especially nice for stacking large rounds.

Pulp hooks work pretty well. Besides bring easier on your hands they will save your back. Like RParrotte said, get two. They are not perfect, you will find some wood that they will bounce off of. Also the shape of the points behave differently. Sometimes the barbed ones hold a little too well. Other times a straight point won't hold at all.

Looking at that photo I can't figure out if the handle is parallel or perpendicular or even at an 45 degree offset to the hook end. I've only seen ones that are perpendicular to the handle.

Looks like the one the OP posted is parallel. Here's a better pic.

I suppose technique for swinging that would be a bit different than a perpendicular mounted pulp hook that you let swing through a loose grip on the handle. Be interesting to compare.

That style hook from Husky will lay flat when holstered on your belt while working in the woods. If the handle was turned it wouldnt be so compact.
